I was 49 and had my life in the bag.
So here I was, newly graduated, hunting down the perfect job with the perfect salary (while visions of sugar plums danced in my head), just KNOWING that my life was on the fast track forward and shooting toward my brand new "dream life".
Fast forward to 9 months later...
Still no marketing job, still no high paying salary, still no "dream life". What the heck?? Not only were my dreams not turning into millions of dollars, they had been smashed into a million pieces. And to top it all off, I still had to pay $72,000 for this broken "dream"! Ugh.
Biggest most EXPENSIVE failure of my life!!
Now, fast forward almost 7 years later to today...and guess what?
I still don't have that million dollar marketing job (or any marketing job for that matter), BUT I feel like a million bucks!
The single biggest most expensive failure of my life became one of the single biggest, BEST things that's ever happened in my life! Now, I imagine what if I HAD gotten what I thought was my "dream life".
That would have cost me more than $72,000, it would have cost me the most flourishing life I could (n)ever imagine that I have now...priceless!
NOT getting that "dream life":
*opened up doors to a world of peace and happiness that truly does
pass all understanding.
*gave me freedom, a commodity even more cherished by most
*gave me abundance beyond my wildest dreams....whoa...wait...WHAT?!
Abundance beyond your wildest dreams??
How is that??
Well, I began to see that it isn't money at all that made me feel abundant. It was my "feeling" about feeling abundant. Which I do.
Between living the freedom, being content with my new career accomplishment, being in my flow, having my life mean something, caring about what I am doing is giving me WAY more of a feeling of abundance than money could by itself. And I've already said I'm doing EXACTLY what I love...
And you can have the same life of flourishing that I have because I'm going to share the secret that I discovered right now...
See, so it was never about not getting my "dream life" at all, it was about NOT getting it that opened up the universe up for EXACTLY the flourishing dream life I was meant to have.
What happened was, NOT getting that "dream life" gave me the opportunity to discover and tap into a little known secret about dogs while doing what I really love...being with and working with dogs. It gave me the opportunity to understand them in a totally different light.
A light that changed my entire life from one of struggle and loss to one of flourishing and abundance. And I'm here to share with you how they did that for me and how they'll do that for you too!
But first I want you to FEEL what they do.
Just to get a taste of this uncanny ability they have,as you're feeling stressed, worried, frustrated, angry, depressed, afraid, or uncomfortable:
1. go to your dog, (or find a dog to do this with, your local shelter is
one great place),
2. put your hand on him
3. close your eyes.
4. begin slowly stroking him from head to tail.
5. sit or lay down with him if you like
6. slowly run your hand down his legs, his ears, his tail, his paws
7. pay attention to his breathing, the warmth and texture of his fur
under your hand.
8. do this for a couple I minutes til you feel yourself breathing
slower, feeling calmer, more relaxed.
In the meantime, let any of your negative thoughts quiet down and drift away like clouds from your mind , not grasping onto them, just letting them go as quickly as they come in. After a couple of minutes you'll feel more calm and collected, probably even happy!
What you are experiencing, what is putting you into a calmer state of mind, is a very powerful higher vibrational connection with your dog.
One connection is a phenomenon called "entrainment", where two things sync in rhythm with each other. Your dog, since he is most often in a slower brainwave state, brings your faster brainwave state, the ones we tend to be in most often, (especially when we're agitated), into sync with his. Lower, slower waves are generally the ones synced to.
At the same time, you are not only slowing your brainwaves, you are also experiencing a flood of feel good chemicals, oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine putting you in a happier mood.
In other words, as you pet your dog, your body and mind are letting go of the negative feelings and replacing them with positive ones.
But there is also another little known phenomenon happening right along with everthing else...
...which I'll cover in a couple of weeks so I don't GET you stressed out with more information. Plus it's the holidays! I want you to fill your hearts with joy not your minds with lots of information.
